Castle Hill - Dennis Farmer

The present Victoria Tower was built on Castle Hill and opened in 1899 in honour of the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria. The site originally housed an iron age fort, a Norman castle and 2 beacons. Castel Hill is 274.6m above sea level and if a line were drawn between the Pannines and the Ural mountains of Russia, Castle Hill would be the highest point. 15"x9"
