 | Welcome to the website of the West Riding Woodcarvers' Association. We are a group of about 70 members who are all interested in carving and related activities. If you share our passion as a beginner or as an experienced carver, do come and join us at one of our meetings if you live within reach of Huddersfield. |
Patron - Dr Ingrid M Roscoe, Lord Lieutenant of West Yorkshire You will find details of these meetings and any exhibitions under the Events menu. Look under the Bulletin Board for current events and notices. Carved panels of First and Second World Wars These panels have now been completed and are on permanent display at the Royal Armouries, Leeds. The panels were unveiled at the Royal Armouries, Leeds on Thursday 11 November 2010 by HRH Prince Michael of Kent. A booklet has been produced to accompany the panels and is on sale at £4 - the whole of the £4 is being given to the West Yorkshire Forget me Not Trust which is building a Children's Respite Centre and Hospice for West Yorkshire. If you would like one, please contact us via the contact form on this website or via email to mail@wrwoodcarvers.com and we will arrange with you how to obtain one (£5 inc p&p). See the Gallery for photographs of the panels and all the individual carvings. We welcome feedback about our site, so please contact us with your comments or suggestions. We continuously update this site, so please come back regularly and see how it is developing. Members of the Club have produced several carved panels. You can see details of these under the Club Projects menu. Photographs can be seen in the Gallery menu. It was in recognition of this work that the Club has been announced as one of 95 volunteering groups from across the UK winning this year's (2009) Queen's Award for Voluntary Service, recognising the outstanding contributions made to local communities by groups voluntarily devoting their time for the benefit of others. |
